HARRISBURG, PA – The Arena Soccer Premier League™, or ASPL, is gearing up to launch an arena league this coming summer for top-level amateur teams, forming teams, and players with amateur status looking to join a team.
The ASPL™ is the official amateur league of the Arena Soccer League™, an upcoming pro-level summer arena league. Reilly Johnson, ASL™ Commissioner and Executive Director of the ASPL, explained that “For a long time there has been a need for a large, organized, arena league during the summer. The ASPL fills that void and provides an excellent opportunity for good amateur players to prepare themselves for the professional level.”
The league is offering a men’s conference and a women’s conference with regional or “cluster” divisions of five to ten teams that would be no farther than about 300 miles apart. These divisions will reduce travel costs and are meant to create rivalries. A few examples of potential “cluster” divisions would be a Midwest Division with teams from Cincinnati, Indianapolis, Louisville, Columbus, and Dayton, or a Lone Star Division with teams from Dallas, Houston, Fort Worth, San Antonio, and Austin. For starters, the ASPL will play just in the United States. Eventually, the league wants to go “continental” with plans to have divisions in Mexico and Canada.
The regular season is tentatively scheduled to begin the first weekend in June and end by Labor Day weekend. In September, division champions will be invited to compete in the ASPL Championship Tournament for a first-place cash prize of $5,000.
The league fee is $1,500 per team per season, with the expansion fee being waived for inaugural season entries. Team owners who desire to enter two or more teams (men or women) will receive a 20% discount on the league fee for each additional team.
To enter a team in the league, team management must submit a team application, submit a minimum of 50% of the league fee ($750), and submit arena availability dates for scheduling by Friday, March 31, 2023. The remaining balance of the league fee is due by Friday, April 28, 2023.
The ASPL is also announcing initial partnerships with FandomWire®, an entertainment media outlet with a reach in the hundreds of millions; Emblem™, an up-and-coming sports apparel brand who will be their official game ball and uniform provider, and; Everyday Hero™, a pop culture retail brand.
Some other highlights of the ASPL are: teams keep all revenue from ticket sales, local sponsorships, and game day merchandise sales; a central streaming platform to broadcast select games; access to discounted uniforms and balls; potential national sponsors with revenue sharing; a professional ASPL website, and; website and social media assistance (for teams).
